What are Kidney Stones?
They are hard, small deposits which form inside the kidneys. They are composed of acid salts as well as minerals. These stones have many causes. In one frequent scenario, the kidney stones develop when the urine is concentrated, allowing the minerals to crystallize and join together.
The passing of these stones may be very painful. The pain of the stones normally starts on the back or side, below the ribs and will move to the groin as well as the abdomen. This pain can change as the kidney stone travels thru the urinary tract.
These stones normally cause no damage which is permanent. Except for pain drugs and drinking water, any further treatment is normally not necessary. But, treatment can help stop recurrent stones in those individuals with high risk factors.
